![]() to greatly lower the cooldown of your grenades. You have to decide when to put a point into Survival to bolster 3/4 of your kit, vs use a Brutality point to bolster only 1/4, but. ![]() But remember: Brutality is red, and your shield, sword, and 1 of your 2 grenades is green. To get that 30% up to, say, 71%, or even 80%, you need to keep putting points into Brutality because Fireworks Technician is a brutality mutation. OK! No problem! Go grab the 'Fireworks Technician' mutation to lower grenade cooldown by 30%! The problem is, 30% isn't all that much. those grenades are really important to your gameplay on this run - you NEED to reduce the cooldown on those grenades. Got a Green Sword with a Green Shield, and 1 Green Grenade and 1 Red Grenade? Well, I'll bet you put a shit ton of points into Survival to help bolster all the green stuff you have in your kit. These extra effects are classified under Brutality, Tactics, and Survival, just like your weapons. You can add a mutation after you beat a level, up to 3 mutations. Mutations are extra bonus effects you can give your character. You will unlock them by beating different bosses, different enemies, different levels, finding secret areas, finding blueprints, etc. Yea, you can hit like a truck, but if an Elite Inquisitor looks at you wrong, bend over and grab your ankles. You may find that all those brutality points you've scoured for have left you with a bit of a glass cannon build. maybe put 1 point into the category that gives you the most Health for a single point. The health you get starts to have severely limited returns. You keep putting points into Brutality to increase the knife and grenade damage, over and over. Remember that caveat I mentioned above? Imagine you have a Red knife, 2 red grenades, and a green shield. like all the others, putting points into Survival if you have red or purple weapons is not so great. Survival points give you the most bang for your buck on Health, but. Last, Survival (green), this has recently become my favorite stat and weapon class. Next, is Tactics (purple) - it gives the weakest health increase, but obviously spec'ing into Tactics will help your purple weapons. So, if you pick up a purple bow and a purple ice blaster, there's not really a reason to put a point into Brutality - there's some huge caveats to that, I'll list them below - i don't want to overwhelm you in this paragraph. Brutality "stat gives slightly weaker health increase than Survival (50% for second Brutality level) up until 14 Brutality levels" (from the wiki). Brutality (red) will increase the strength of weapons/skills that are red. Every time you choose a color it will add 15% damage to that color weapon, but the health it adds to your character diminishes as you choose that stat more and more. Some scrolls are yellow and you can pick any of the 3 stats you want, some scrolls are dual-colored and have 2 choices - not always the one you want/need.Įach color you choose has diminishing returns on health, but never on damage. You will find scrolls on the ground, in glass cases, or inside enemies you need to kill (they have a little star over their head) that will allow you to 'stat' your character - these stats give strength in different ratios, and affect your weapons. Brutality (red), Tactics (purple), Survival (green). Now, as far as weapons go and 'strengthening' your character, there are basically 3 categories (i'm dumbing it down). It creates an infuriating sort of love-hate style of gameplay. Get knocked the fuck out 1 map later? Kiss your gear goodbye. Got the Spider Rune to climb walls? Unlocked forever. that badass fuckin' bow you had? Gone forever. ![]() If you beat a boss and unlock a game changing rune (let's say the Vine Rune, which lets you sprout vines from special green blobs on the floor), but then 4 minutes later you die, the rune you unlocked is forever unlocked. Your progress is more made towards 'your account'. Next time you play you start from scratch. Finished your game of League of Legends? All the stuff you bought during the game is gone. ![]() If you've ever played League of Legends, DoTA, HoN, etc, when you start the game you have fuck-all, and you 'farm' and get stuff (in Dead Cells you get drops, but you can 'NPC' stuff for cash and there is a shop to buy weapons from) and you grow stronger as the game progresses. However, what you have accomplished is not erased. You don't go back to the last check point, you don't start the map over, you're entire run is erased. The first thing you need to understand is that when you die, you're done. ish.ĭead Cells is super fun, but because it mixes a lot of different elements from different games it can get a little bit confusing.
